Hermione Goes to Bloomsbury Farms

Mommy and Daddy took Hermione to Bloomsbury Farms this weekend. It was her first time going to a pumpkin patch. She was so excited.

Her idea of picking out a pumpkin was to grab the first one she saw.

Hermione also liked playing in the hay!

Hermione did NOT like sitting in the big chair with Daddy. She only wanted to run around!

Mommy was so excited to get to take Hermione into the corn crib full of kernels!

Hermione did a great job feeding the goats. It took awhile for her to understand to open her hand for them to take food, but she had a lot of fun once she understood the concept!

Mommy's other favorite part of the day was jumping with my little sister on the air pillow!

Violet's First Cereal Feeding!

My littlest sister, Violet had her first rice cereal this evening. I had MY first cereal when I was less than five months old, but Mommy and Daddy waited until Violet was six months old. I must say, she did a GREAT JOB!!! She opened her mouth right away and even CHEWED! I remember when I ate my first cereal, I spit it out everywhere!

The cutest part was that Hermione fed Violet the entire time. Mommy and Daddy only got to do a couple bites each. What a great big sister Hermione is. I am so proud of both of my little sisters!

My sister, Hermione, has been very "hot and cold" about wanting to hold Violet. If she does decide to hold Violet, it is usually for a few seconds. Hermione and Mommy went to Factory Card Outlet a week ago and they got a balloon. The store clerk gave it to Hermione for FREE!!! It is still hanging in the air even seven days later. Hermione has been carrying it around all week!

Aunt Jen and Uncle Jeff got Hermione a sand and water table for Christmas and the weather was finally warm enough for Hermione to be able to use it. Aunt Lisa and Uncle Chris had a baby girl recently. They named her Alice. She is just a couple weeks older than Violet. They don't look like it in this picture, but I know they will grow up to be great friends.

Hermione doesn't seem all that impressed by having a cousin that is the same age as Violet, but I'm sure she will have fun bossing them around when they are a little older.

My new baby sister, Violet Gwendolyn Chalupa, was born on March 10, 2011 at 10:54 p.m. She weighed a lot less than Hermione and I. She only weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces, but she was a week early. She was the longest baby of the family, however, at 22 inches long!!!

Before any Christmas festivities began, Mommy took a quick snapshot with Hermione!

Hermione's favorite toys this year were boxes. This didn't shock me, because that's what I played with at Christmas when I was Hermione's age.

Her favorite box was the one containing a sand and water table that she got from Aunt Jen and Uncle Jeff. She played on top of the box the entire week!

Her other favorite toy was a kitchen set.

Grandpa Mike always buys tacky gifts. This one is an old toy from "Veggie Tales" and Hermione actually liked it. Too bad it ended up in the garbage...

On Christmas morning, it was just Hermione, Mommy, and Daddy together. Hermione got to open her stocking.

Hermione had her first trip to the zoo recently. Just like my first trip to the zoo, Mommy and Daddy picked one of the hottest days of the year. That's okay, Hermione told me she still had lots of fun!

She saw goats, who she was not impressed with. They were not impressed with her, either.

She did think the chickens were kind of funny. They were busy eating and she laughed at them.

Hermione didn't care about the pig, but Mommy and Daddy had to take a picture, because THEY thought it was amusing!

Hermione was just too hot to pay much attention to the ducks. She reminded Mommy and Daddy that she sees ducks all the time.

Early Crawling Experiences for Hermione!

My little sister has been learning to crawl lately. She is so cute! She spent a week rocking on all fours and then started crawling...backwards. The next week, she went forward three steps one day and across the room the next. Now she is able to turn around AND go from sitting to crawling and from crawling to sitting. This video is from the first day she took several crawls forward. You'll see just how much my little sister loves Mommy's keys!!!

Today, Hermione got to try out the splash pad for the first time! She gets nervous when she tries new things, so Mommy had to introduce it to her really slowly. I remember when I went to the splash pad for the first time--I dove right in and even had my face in the spigots!

As you may remember from a couple posts ago, Hermione was NOT impressed with swimming her first time out. Unfortunately, that was Mommy's fault because she made the water too cold. Now that the water is the right temperature, Hermione loves to spend time in the pool!

A Day with Grandpa!

For Hermione's first day of summer break, Mommy took her up to visit Grandpa! It took awhile for Hermione to warm up to him because it had been awhile, but as you can see from all the pictures, she took to him perfectly!

Hermione had a really fun time because there were a lot of new toys at Grandpa's house! Like any baby, though, one of her favorite toys was the container of wipes.

Another favorite toy was the walker. Mommy and Daddy don't have one on wheels but Grandpa does and Hermione learned that she can move herself around the basement...backwards.

It wouldn't be a normal day if Hermione didn't take some cute pictures while posing.

Memorial Day

My little sister was very busy for her first Memorial Day. First, Mommy and Daddy put Hermione's Radio Flyer together and took her for a walk.

Mommy also wanted Hermione to try out my old swimming pool. Unfortunately, Mommy made the water WAY too cold and Hermione HATED it!

Hermione and I recently became cousins! Mommy's sister, Abby, had a baby on April 29th! Her name is Ava.

Mommy babysat for her last night. I figured Hermione would be jealous that another baby was getting some of Mommy's time, but she did really well. She smiled at Ava any time that Ava made noises. They also stared at one another a lot!

Hermione has a sock fetish. She even likes to take off other people's socks! Ava was no exception.

Hermione tried to give the sock back, but Ava was upset by then.

Last weekend, Mommy had to go out of town, so Daddy and Hermione got to spend a lot of time together. They did so many fun things.

Hermione had her first experience with grass. Unlike me, she seemed to like it! I used to cry when Mommy and Daddy put me on the ground.

Hermione got to go on her first slide. She didn't really seem to understand what the point was, but she did enjoy when Mommy kissed her cheek!

Every time Hermione goes on the swings, she likes them more and more. It's fun for me to watch her and see how she likes going just as high as I did!

It's so much fun to watch Hermione use all my old toys. Recently, Mommy and Daddy got out the Johnny Jumper AND the Excersaucer for Hermione to play in. She LOVES them both!

Hermione doesn't know yet how to bounce in the Johnny Jumper, but she sure loves to swing!

It didn't take long for Hermione to figure out how all my old toys work on the Exersaucer. Now she wants time daily to manage all the toys!

Bathtime

One of Hermione's favorite activities of the day is bath time. She knows right when it is time for her daily bath, too. She gets so excited when she sees the frog towel come out of the closet!

She likes to play around in her towel. Her favorite thing to do is play peek-a-boo.

In the bathtub, her favorite part is getting her hair washed. My favorite was splashing Mommy. Hermione is learning how to do that, but so far, she only kicks water into the tub itself. Just wait, Mommy!

Hermione sure is growing up. Each day, she looks more and more like me! Mommy and Daddy started using my old green frog towel for Hermione's bath each day. Look at the pictures they took!

Hermione's First Cereal

Mommy and Daddy decided it was time to teach Hermione how to eat cereal. She is a very big girl and she eats ALL the time...even more than I did! She is bigger than I was, too. Two weeks ago, at four and a half months of age, she weighed 18.5 pounds, which is how much I weighed at my SIX-month appointment! Way to go, Little Sister!

To start practicing, Mommy and Daddy had Hermione sit in her (my old) highchair while they ate dinner. Then they gave her a spoon to play with!

Then yesterday, they started feeding her cereal. She was confused at first, but then all of a sudden (I helped her out), a lightbulb went off and she GOT IT!

Hermione has recently figured out how much fun it is to sit up. She isn't old enough to sit up unassisted, but she loves to be propped into the corner of chairs and couches!

A Brother's Love

My sweet little sister,
There are things that you must know.
We'll have moments just between us,
As you live and learn and grow.

Mom and Dad will tell you,
About your brother's love,
As I protect and watch you,
High from up above.

But we will share some moments,
That they may not see,
Special loving moments,
Just meant for you and me.

When you lay and giggle,
For reasons no one knows,
That's because I am tickling,
All your precious toes.

When you sit and smile,
In peculiar places,
That's because I am teasing you,
With all my silly faces.

And when you get the butterflies,
On stage in the 1st grade,
I will be the voice inside,
Saying, "Do not be afraid."

When you're sad and crying,
I will wipe away your tears,
I will cheer you in your triumphs,
Support you through your fears.

I'll bring the breeze when you are hot,
The sun when you are cold,
I'll raise you up when you are low,
Both when you're young and old.

I'll be your light when it is dark,
Your strength when you feel weak,
We'll be the best of friends,
Although we'll never speak.

This special bond between us,
Is strong and pure and true,
Its a bond that can't be broken,

I'll always be with you.
